The hallowed chamber held an
internal election to select the major officials who will
oversee the hallowed chamber's operations
after the 2022–2023 legislative assembly was dissolved
on May 1, 2024, at precisely 6 p.m.
Recall, that the FHR election was
conducted online (using a Google form) in every
FATSSSA constituency (level) the day prior, under the auspices of IFEC.
The outcome is presented in the section below.

However, due to inadequate organisation in the candidature structure,
the Department of Political Science's 200-level constituency election
outcome was suspended.
According to the IFEC Chairman, the poll is anticipated to be held again
and the results declared between May 1 and May 2.
The Speaker, Clerk, Deputy Clerk, and Chief Whip are among the key positions in the FHR
that were up for election. Nine honourable members participated in the voting process.
The FHR ongoing election
However, the officer to take up the post of the office of the Deputy Speaker which was
anticipated to be contested by Hon. Toheeb has not been elected because Hon. Toheeb
who is the sole candidate vying for the post has not been legally re-elected into
the new legislative assembly for the reason stated above
(the suspended election of the 200-level NAPSS Constituency)
Triumph Adeleye, Deputy Clerk; Praise Soremikun, Clerk; and Lucy Obim, Chief Whip,
emerged victorious when the votes were counted. All three candidates ran unopposed.
The Newly elected Speaker, Rt Hon. Ifeanyi
For the post of the Speaker, Hon. Iyinoluwa Oloyede and Hon. Ifeanyi John squared up against each other. Eventually, Hon. Ifeanyi with a total of 7 votes emerged victorious as the new FHR Speaker as against Hon. Iyiola’s 2 votes.
