UI Students' Union Gives Update on NELFUND Upkeep Allowance Payments

The University of Ibadan Students' Union (UISU) has announced that the disbursement of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) upkeep allowance has resumed, assuring beneficiaries that payments are currently being made in phases.

This was disclosed in a statement dated July 23, 2026, and signed by the Students' Union President, Temidayo S. Adeboye, and the General Secretary, Joshua O. Shontan.

According to the statement, the Union acknowledged the concerns of students who are yet to receive their upkeep allowance, noting that it has received several complaints from affected beneficiaries in recent weeks. It expressed appreciation for the patience shown by students despite the delay.

The Union explained that the latest update followed an announcement by the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, confirming that the disbursement of upkeep allowances had officially resumed after technical issues affecting the payment process were resolved.

The Students' Union further revealed that while a number of University of Ibadan students have already received their upkeep allowance, others are still awaiting payment, an indication that the disbursement is being carried out in phases.

The Union, therefore, urged beneficiaries who are yet to receive payment to remain patient and continue monitoring their registered bank accounts while the exercise progresses. 

Reaffirming its commitment to the welfare of students, the Students' Union stated that it remains dedicated to protecting the interests and well being of every University of Ibadan student.
