Defection is not a new lesson or syllabus to Politics in Nigeria and other countries in the world, as far as decamping is involve, the ruling party always have the spoilt of war and the minority bear the grunt. SEALS CUP IS HERE AGAIN: REGISTRATION FOR 2025 EDITION IS ONGOING

Peace Nkenta The SEALS Cup 2025 planning committee on the 1st of May 2025 released a broadcast stating that the registration for the tournament has commenced.  Having decided on the date for the start of the tournament which is on the 21st of May 2025, the committee beckoned for the the participation of the student community emphasizing prompt action.  The tournament is set to hold in the old football stadium (SUB PITCH) where Fans would be present to cheer on their teams. Though details on team selection and event schedules are still on hold, the auspicious team invites the general populace of the student community to join the WhatsApp group for further information and banter.

  By Ayoolajesu Ojo Victoria A group of four ladies in their first year at the University of Ibadan who were assigned to F49 of the great Obafemi Awolowo Hall discovered that they also belonged to the same faculty and that their courses begin with the same letter - P - therefore they were to be known as the P4 ladies.  Starting out as total strangers and becoming, not just a clique that won the "Clique Of The Year" award but also a clique that grew into a family - one that had inside jokes as well as inside fights, and conversation progressions like no other such that this minute they're talking politics, the next minute they're talking food, or religion, or imposing "in-laws" on one another and would just go on for hours to the point that they sometimes had to beg one another to go to bed.   The P4 ladies comprised of four original and three honourary roommates in persons of Success, Queen, Kehinde and Emunah for the former and Timi, Faizat and Ore for the ...

UCJ UI CELEBRATES WORLD PRESS FREEDOM DAY

  By Ageh Success Chidera In commemoration of May 3rd which is World Press Freedom Day, the Union of Campus Journalist, University of Ibadan set out on a Campus rally on the 2nd of May, 2025 to celebrate as well as educate students on the freedom of the Press and its importance to the society as a whole. Campus journalists converged at the Students’ Union building before moving on to various Halls of Residence on Campus.  The rally began around past 10 a.m at the Obafemi Awolowo Hall of Residence. The President of the Union, Olashile Ogunrinu, the Editor-in-Chief , Tolulope Ayeye and Aduwo Ayodele from Indy Press spoke to the students present in the Hall on the protection of journalism and advocacy of press freedom in the University of Ibadan.  The congregation then moved on to other Halls of Residence on Campus and the rally was then concluded at the University's main gate. UI'SU NOTIFIES STUDENT COMMUNITY ON TOWN HALL MEETING RESOLUTIONS

  By Peace Nkenta On the 2nd of May, 2025, a Town hall meeting was held with the University of Ibadan Students’ Union Executives and various student leaders from different constituencies. It was noted that about 150 student leaders were present at the meeting. The meeting began at 2:10 PM where the student leaders highlighted the challenges and issues encountered by students in their different constituencies. The UI’SU President, Covenant Odedele, stated the current activities and initiatives of the Union and as well expatiated on plans to collaborate with the student leaders to resolve the challenges identified. He also gave an update on the recent germane developments within the University, then an open forum was made available for comments and further discussions.  The meeting ended at 5:40 PM with the following resolutions; 1.  The UI’SU will compile and present all raised concerns and complaints to the University’s Management.  2. Most schools these days are spending more dollars on activities such as coding class, robots, and high-technology tools. That's terrific, learning how to create and work with technology is a great thing. But along with the rise of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), arts, music, and school counselors are giving way. And here’s the thing: we are not just students; we're also humans, who feel, who have friends and who have issues.  Here comes social‑emotional learning (SEL). SEL has students learn about managing stress, talking about emotions, problem-solving with others, and being able to view matters from other people's standpoints.
