An Interview with Olujoka Pelumi, General Secretary Aspirant

By David Adebayo

FATSSSA Press: I am David Adebayo FATSSSA press, Can you briefly introduce yourself?

Mr. Olujoka: My name is Pelumi Boboye Olujoka, a 300-level student from the department of Political Science, university of Ibadan.

FATSSSA Press: So mr Olujoka what motivates and sparks up your interest to run for the post of the General Secretary?

Mr olukoja: My passion for servant leadership and desire to contribute to the growth and development of our faculty community drives my aspiration to run for General Secretary. I aim to foster a more inclusive, vibrant, and supportive environment, leveraging my skills and experience to enhance student engagement, academic excellence, and social welfare. I am motivated by the opportunity to serve and make a positive impact on my fellow students' university experience.

FATSSSA PRESS: Why didn’t you indicate your interest during the last election, why wait till this time?

Mr Olukoja: I didn't contest during the last election because I wanted to show support for my classmate who was running for the position. I believed in his vision and didn't want to split the vote or create a divided front. However, this time around, I feel a stronger sense of purpose and urgency to contribute my skills and experience to the role, so I've decided to throw my hat into the ring.

FATSSSA press: Are you aware that you have an opponent and its the same person you wanted to show support for the last session?

Mr olukoja: Yes, i am aware

FATSSSA Press: According to your agenda, when do you plan to organize the conference exactly and who are the speakers you have in mind, Also how do you source for funds to sponsor it?

Mr Olukoja: The conference will be held at the beginning of the second semester. Currently, I don't have a list of speakers. This will be a team work between me and the other executive, and that is one of the things we are going to deliberate on.

To source funds for the conference, I plan to:

- Reach out to organizations for sponsorships and partnership

- Collaborate with the faculty alumni to secure funding

- Approach faculty members for financial support

I believe a combination of these strategies will help secure the necessary funds to make the conference a success.

FATSSSA PRESS: The last administration did a database, What can be done differently from the last dispensation as touching creating the database and do you know any challenges they encountered?

Mr olukoja: I intend to make the collection of information easier by attaching a Google to the process of paying for the faculty dues.

FATSSSA Press: In your manifesto you said “Facilitating communication through feedback mechanism and open-door policies”. Can you explain further?

Mr olukoja: By doing so, I aim to create a two-way communication channel, where students feel heard and valued, and where their feedback informs my decision-making process as General Secretary.

FATSSSA PRESS: Finally, why do you feel fatsssaite would vote you over your opponent?

Mr Olukoja: I believe FATSSSAites will vote for me over my opponent because:

- I have a proven track record of leadership and community service

- My manifesto offers specific, achievable, and innovative solutions to the faculty's challenges

- I have a strong understanding of the faculty's needs and concerns, having engaged with students from various departments

- I possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, essential for effective representation and collaboration

- I am committed to transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in my leadership approach

While my opponent may have his strengths, I believe my unique blend of experience, vision, and passion for servant leadership makes me the better candidate to serve the FATSSSA community.

FATSSSA Press: Thank you so much Mr. Olukoja This will bring us to the end of this interview.
