FATSSSA L&D makes history in the Quarter-Finals
By Glorious Olajire
FATSSSA has advanced to the semi-finals in the Inter-faculty Jaw War Debate after winning the quarter-finals against the Faculty of Dentistry. This victory marked the first of its kind in four years, as stated by the L&D president, Olagboyega Stephen Praise.
The debate took place on February 8th, 2024, at the Faculty's large lecture theatre. FATSSSA L&D argued against the topic: "Foreign Aid: Enabling Sufficiency or Perpetuating Dependency in African Nations." The speakers for FATSSSA were Adedokun Oluwafisayo and Akande Omobobola James. Adedokun Oluwafisayo was awarded the overall best speaker for the day, while the team achieved the highest score of the day in the first round, with 85% from the social sciences and 80% from dentistry.
President Olagboyega Stephen Praise expressed confidence in the team's performance, stating, "I and my team (FATSSSA Literary and Debating Society members) are definitely not giving less than we have been giving so far, and from the records since the beginning of JAWWAR 2024, we all know what that is." The semi-finals will be against the Faculty of Arts.
