Fatsssa press: Can you please give a detailed introduction of yourself
Aspirant: I'm Omotayo Olumide, a 200l student of the Department of
Political Science who is also the Class Representative for 200l constituency,
I'm 27years of age and originated from Ekiti state. Moreso, I'm a publicist and
media Influencer, I love public relations and these has pushed me to some
certain extent on campus. I won the Class Governor of the year, Fresher of the
year for both department and faculty.
Fatsssa press: Can you provide an overview of your previous experience in
public relations, particularly within an educational institution?
Aspirant: Member, FATSSSA current publicity committee.
Role: assisting the incumbent PRO in engaging and disseminating
information to the targeted students.
Member, virtual learning committee,
FATSSSA (Invicta team)
Role: Explaining how to make use of virtual learning with their
devices, Solving problems of those who couldn't gain access to their Moodle app
during the virtual semester. Mostly freshers.

Fatsssa press: How do you stay updated on the latest trends and best
practices in public relations, specifically within the higher education sector?
Aspirant: I'm always active and watchful on the media spaces and
always around where there's a physical event.
E.g I was available during the Jaw
War event, FATSSSA week, UI'SU events and others.
I have a collaborative effort with
many influencers, PRs, students executives on campus and off.
My collaborative efforts with them is
another source of meeting up with the current trends and narratives.
Fatsssa press: What strategies would you employ to effectively promote the
faculty and enhance its reputation among
others?
Aspirant: An ideal strategy is to conduct the faculty unique strength
and accomplishment as leverage this back positively to the public.
Ability to control the wrong
narrative about my faculty in order to protect the name of the faculty.
Creating content showcasing faculty
expertise and talented FATSSSAites.
This can be done through various
channels, such as UI WhatsApp communities, standing interviews, or media
engagement.
Fatsssa press: Can you describe a challenging situation you encountered in
your previous role as a public relations professional and how you successfully
resolved it?
Aspirant: There was a time on campus when a fake news was circulating
around concerning wrong resumption date.
I and other members of UI publicity
team had to come up immediately with a counter narrative to the wrong
information circulating around.
We reached out to the Faculty
presidents and Department then for fast approach.
Fatsssa press: How would you approach building and maintaining
relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and influencers to ensure
positive coverage and representation for the university?
Aspirant: In today's digital age, social media plays a crucial role
in public relations. How would you utilize social media platforms to
effectively communicate the faculty's message and engage with its audience?
Fatsssa press: Collaboration and teamwork are essential in a university
environment. How would you work with other excos to align messaging and create
cohesive public relations strategies?
Aspirant: By ensuring that all excos are on the same page regarding
the desired outcomes and the role of public relations in achieving them.
We need ourselves to put in
coordinate efforts and input required resources to achieve our goals
Fatsssa press: Can you describe a time when you had to handle a crisis or
manage negative publicity? How did you handle it, and what were the outcomes?
Aspirant: There was a time on campus when a fake news was circulating

Fatsssa press: What metrics and key performance indicators do you consider
important for measuring the success of public relations efforts, and how would
you track and report on them
Aspirant: Every association needs a Public relations to portray the
uniqueness and selling points of the association to the public.
In this sense, the Public relations
officers won't be able to achieve this alone.
Fatsssa press: Can you provide an example of a successful public relations
campaign or initiative you led in your previous role, and what made it
effective?
Aspirant: One of my successful led campaign was during Safeboda era
on UI campus, I was part of their Ambassadors.
We always walk around the faculty in
Safeboda customized shirts and cap and preach the offer they are going to enjoy
if they start taking Safeboda bike.
It was really a good time for the
brand because many people were influenced because of my relations with them.
Effective communication is crucial in
public relations. How would you ensure that your messaging is clear,
consistent, and aligned with the university's values and goals?
Fatsssa press: How do you prioritize and manage multiple projects and
deadlines in a fast-paced university environment?
Aspirant: First thing is to evaluate the importance and urgency of
each project and prioritize them based on their impact on the association
goals, students' needs, or critical deadline.
Secondly, to consider factors such as
revenue generation, strategic importance and the satisfaction of my targeted
students (consumers)
Fatsssa press:What excites you the most about working as a public relations
professional in the higher education sector, and why do you believe you would
be a good fit for this role at our university?
Aspirant: It's always passionate to me being a public relations
officer because I derive motivation from the chance to make a positive impact,
effectively communicate the institution's message, and contribute to its
success and reputation.
I believe I would make a great Public
relations officer because of my understanding of how the association is, my
experience in public relations and my quench to push my faculty to its peak
with my efforts and collaboration with others.
If elected by the Grace of God and
the will of the people, the association will be proud to of me.
