 In this series of Interviews, FATSSSA Press deemed it worthy for  her audience-FATSSSAites to have an early meet-up with the various aspirants for the Executive Offices in the Upcoming Elections.

Its basically a collection of their basic profiles, each one of them; their core motivations and their general idea about the Association's leadership.

The proper quizzing and test of manifestoes comes up on the 20th of October as from 3pm, at the SLT.

MEET KINGSLEY CHUKWUMA, FATSSSA ELECTIONS PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANT

“I am a life strategist, I am an executor, when I set out to do a task, I always make sure I achieve this”.

FATSSSA PRESS: Please introduce yourself in full

Kingsley: My name is Kingsley Chukwuma, a penultimate student of the department of Sociology, I am the current General Secretary for the Faculty and I am also a Life strategist. I love travelling.

FATSSSA PRESS: Why do you want to contest for that position?

Kingsley: The first reason is that, I want to serve FATSSSA and I know I have what it takes to serve the association.

An association as great as ours, needs a good leader as well. This is the main reason I want to be president, again I want to serve FATSSSA. FATSSSA needs to keep being heard on the lips of the university populace. No doubt, this has been achieved in recent times, I want to continue this legacy. I want to lead FATSSSAites to do amazing things in the university that would make FATSSSA a faculty to be envied, I want every other faculty in the university to reckon with FATSSA and FATSSSAites be it in sports, academia, leadership, the L and D, or even the press. 

FATSSSA PRESS: Which Administrative skills do you possess?

Kingsley: I can multitask, I can administrate, I am a problem solver, a critical thinker and I have a team spirit which is important.

FATSSSA PRESS: How has this in one or the other influenced your leadership skills?

Kingsley: Currently, I am the founder of the company called “LEADERS’ FORT” and using these skills I possess in administering this company, these skills has influenced a lot.

FATSSSA PRESS: Which political office have you held?

Kingsley: I am currently serving as the General Secretary in FATSSSA, I was a member of NSASA Legislative council and I also serve as a member of its finance and budgeting committee, that’s all for University of Ibadan.

FATSSSA PRESS: FATSSSA, how would you describe the state of the Association?

Kingsley: Like I have always said, FATSSSA is on a winning spree, FATSSSA is not perfect but FATSSSA is towards perfection, although there are lapses, we are on good course which the current administration which I am part of, we are striving, that is why my agenda is “Leverage”.

FATSSSA PRESS: What is the agenda for the Association?

Kingsley: My agenda? one of the basic things, which is the umbrella for my manifesto is based on the survey I did where I interviewed students from each department on what they feel is missing, which is ONENESS. I will create a oneness in FATSSSA, FATSSSA where Political Science or Geography students won’t feel alienated from the activities of the association, same applies to other Departments.

FATSSSA PRESS: How is this achievable?

Kingsley: I will elaborate on this during manifesto, but I will laisse with class representatives in each department, organizing of programs which will help creating bond between students.

FATSSSA PRESS: In reality, we know Students’ population in academic programs are usually low, how would you tackle this?

Kingsley: I have unique plans in uniting FATSSSA, even though, it might not be perfect, but before the end of my tenure, if elected, I would have achieved this. One of the strategies is going through the office of the class representatives because they know their classmates better than the Executive Council, I believe through them, we can achieve this.

FATSSSA PRESS: As a potential successor of Josiah, what would you do differently?

Kingsley: I must first commend Josiah; he has been really amazing President. What I will do differently is to create oneness among FATSSSAites, create oneness among organs, the Executive, the FHR, the Press, L and D while they are maintaining their Independence.

FATSSSA PRESS: Different candidates whose manifesto does not turned out as planned, how will you avoid this?

Kingsley: I am a life strategist, I am an executor, when I set out to do a task, I always make sure I achieve this. What will be in my manifesto is what I know I will be able to achieve, execute by the special grace of God. One thing to put in mind is that, other elected members of the Executive council also have their plans, we have to align these plans of the manifesto together, because, there might be similarities between manifesto of the Executives, we do not want to overwhelm ourselves, which might affect us. We do not want to underdo; we wish to overdo.

FATSSSA PRESS: Being a member of the Invicta-led FATSSSA, how would you rate your Administration?

Kingsley: On a scale of 10, I will rate us 8

FATSSSA PRESS: Why would you rate as an 8, why not a 10?

Kingsley: I believe no one is perfect and we make mistakes as mistakes are inevitable, in order to be realistic, I picked 8 because I know this administration did its best and its only right, I rate a good score, which is also an A.

FATSSSA PRESS: If you do emerge as the President, within six months of office, what would you have achieved?

Kingsley: I should have achieved a lot because that already covered first semester, Educational, social programs, Administrative programs, we should have achieved those too.

FATSSSA PRESS: What can motivate you to step down?

Kingsley: Nothing can motivate me to step down, if I want to step down, I would have stepped down since, I can’t be motivated.

FATSSSA PRESS: What is your conception of the management’s- students relationship?

Kingsley: In the faculty, the managements has been so helpful, from the Dean, Sub Dean, Faculty officer. Whatever complaints that is lodged to the faculty management they tried to resolve this, except it’s not in their capacity. 

FATSSSA PRESS: What do you think of your opponent?

Kingsley: My opponent is a great guy, he is the Clerk of the FHR, we are not so close, he is amazing and he has been up and doing in his functions in the House.

FATSSSA PRESS: What exactly is the brand “Kingsley” selling?

Kingsley: I’ve been emphasizing on leverage. I want to be known for excellence, perfection, mistakes at it’s minimal, that’s what I am selling.

FATSSSA PRESS: what are your chances of winning?

Kingsley: my chances of winning? though I am not a pessimist, I will say my chances of winning is 70%

FATSSSA PRESS: final words for FATSSSAites’

Kingsley: I will want FATSSSAites to go beyond ability, favoritism, familiarity, Departments, vote for someone that is capable, don’t just vote for Kingsley because I Know him. Does Kingsley have influence, don’t just vote for me or anyone because they are your friends, vote capability, vote for someone that you know is capable of taking FATSSSAites to greater heights.
