NAPSS senate president, Ishola Oluwatofunmi, has been “provisionally” suspended on Saturday.

Members of the NAPSS Senate Council made this decision after a tense debate over the conduct of the four-term serving senator on the issue concerning the suspension of the Deputy Senate President, Sen. Deborah, last semester.

According to the senators, the senate president was found complicit of deceiving the House with his unconstitutionally directive given to the DSP over the slash in the Senate annual allocation. It was said that the senate president ordered the DSP not to receive a pay-cut beyond 10% at a leaders meeting held in April. An order the president have previously denied.

With the suspension, Sen. Ewaoluwa from 400-level constituency have emerged in acting capacity.

The suspension is due to last for one week, during which time a 4-man committee set up by the House will make recommendations base on their findings before a final decision will be made on the issue.

There will be online and offline blended learning for the 2nd semester – Dr. Lafenwa

The sub-dean of the Faculty of the Social Sciences, UI, Dr. Stephen Lafenwa, has disclosed that the faculty will be adopting the blended learning system for the second semester.
Speaking in one of his class on Tuesday, Dr. Lafenwa revealed that the mode of learning for the 2nd semester will be in a hybrid form of combining both physical and online platforms.
“The faculty is not planning to return back to full virtual classes [in spite of the concerns over the spread of Covid-19 on campus]. This decision was made due to the poor results of students recorded in the first semester.
“It was discovered that the full virtual method was ineffective, so the decision made by the faculty board is that lecturers should find a way to adopt the two methods.”
He went on to advise students to adhere strictly to the covid-19 protocols.
Dr. Lafenwa is a senior lecturer of the Department of Political Science, University of Ibadan. He currently serves as the sub-dean (undergraduate) of the Faculty of the Social Sciences and a member of the university’s Governing Council.

By: Oyekanmi Abiodun [Politikz]

The executive president of the Faculty of the Social Sciences, UI, Josiah Obong, on Sunday, said that it was a good experience to have members of the faculty have a chill event after all of the stress they had taken in during the past semester.
Josiah said this while responding to question about the Amapiano picnic event organized by the faculty last Saturday.
The faculty had on Saturday organized a picnic event tagged Amapiano. The event was said to be a means of providing relaxation and fun for students within and without the faculty after a stress-filled semester and examination period.
When asked whether the picnic was able to achieve the desired goals, Josiah said, “It was nice. Very good.
“Some [FATSSSAites] may have had their fun already, but it was good to have them have it together as a faculty.
“The Social Director was in charge of the event. Lot of support from the Sponsorship and Strategic Partnership Committee Chairperson, Thomas Olabode, is also very appreciated as well as from the Executive Council.”
