ORAL HYGIENE: TOOTH DECAY

Tooth decay is a condition in which there is a damage in the structure of the tooth and the enamel is destroyed.
There are several causes of tooth decay which include:
Excessive consumption of sugary foods
Plague formation-by the combination of saliva, bacteria, acids and remains of food particles in the mouth

Symptoms of tooth decay
Tooth ache
Stains on the teeth
Appearance of cavities
Increased tooth sensitivity(you feel pain or discomfort when you take cold/hot foods)
Tooth loss

 How to prevent tooth decay
Practice good oral hygiene(brush your teeth regularly, use a good and clean toothbrush, use a toothpaste that contains fluoride)
Limit consumption of sugary foods/beverages
Use dental floss(helps to remove remains of food particles between the teeth)
Go for dental checkups at least twice a year.
