Social Media.........

Social media; two words that have changed the world. Social media is the new world. It is a place where everything happens. Twitter,Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat is the world now.
You can't make it to a function, don't worry; you'll get more action than those who attended because you can get to see it all from Insta stories or Snapchat. The only thing is you won't get the Jollof.
Perhaps your favourite celebrity is getting hooked, you know you cannot be there. No need to worry, it would be all over Instagram,#BAAD17 was all over my Instagram timeline no matter how many times I clicked "see fewer posts than these"
These days people feel that they owe it to their "friends"/or " followers" the right to be continually updated about their lives. We know when they get into a relationship, we see how the love grows, wilters and dies, this is not because we're "amebos" but because they carried us along every step of the way through social media.
These days you don't need to hire a private investigator or someone to do background checks on a person, just get the person's social media accounts and their respective usernames and you'll see all you need to know. So many aspiring employees have been disqualified through these means; it might be a *tweet* from 3 years ago or an image posted some time back. Some others have however been employed by mere looking at their social media accounts.
"The internet never forgets", this saying is true and many celebrities, politicians, sensations have been humbled by their past posts which sometimes are incriminating and damaging on their career.
In spite of all these, social media also has its benefits. The likes of Lasisi Elenu, Maraji, Arole might have gone unnoticed if not for social media and in this case,Instagram. They intelligently created comic relief on social media and this led to them being noticed; they are all now stars beyond social media as they have moved as far as starring in movies, music videos and even becoming brand ambassadors.
In addition, businesses are built on social media. We hear this everyday but not many of us practice it. You can build your business using the social media. Make-up artists, bakers, caterers, fashion designers have linked up on social media. Take for example Ugo Monye whose iconic agbada which is now known as the "Ebuka agbada" blew the internet some weeks ago. The agbada threw people into a frenzy as everyone wanted to know who designed it, a single tag by Ebuka did the trick. Ugo Monye's followers on Instagram more than tripled in 24 hours. Put what you do on social media. You never know when it would come in handy.
To round off, social media is not all about the hash tags, you can use it for so much more than that. Its good for connecting with peoples, you get to meet new people and foster relationships with them; it can also strengthen previous relationships. Sell your talent or your gift to the social media world, put up your work there regardless of what it is and be sure of yourself.
Before you put that post on Instagram or Facebook or Snapchat or Twitter, think....
"Is it helping.me in any way asides my ego and sense of aura?" Is it helping my business? Is it displaying my gift?
Answer these questions and act accordingly.
