Ride in my Lambo is a work of my imagination says Vikky Simon.

Its not always you stumble on stars. This week Fatsssa Press had the opportunity of speaking with one of Unibadans fastest rising music star, Vikky Simon. In this interview, he talks about music, his latest track, Ride in My Lambo and about his career goals. Enjoy the conversation.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Victor Simon Murana, a student of the faculty of the social sciences, department of geography, 300l. I am from a family of 5, my parents, I and 2 younger siblings.

How did you go into music and why?

I have had a great passion for music since childhood. My dad likes music a lot so he plays different records all the time. I got accustomed to music by listening to the records my dad played back then. But then I really didn't think about becoming an artiste. The thought of me being an artist came to me when I was in secondary school. There was a group of guys that produce songs together then. My music career started in secondary school. When the same group, they called themselves YDMG, they were missing a member when in the studio that day and they wanted to record. I had to fill in for the guy and when the track came out, it made sense and I felt why not?

So we can say your background has been a great influence on you musically?

Yes that's right.

You just released a single, can you tell us more about it?

Yeah. The title is “Ride In My Lambo” (R.I.M.L.) The title came to me as d result of my imagination. The track is about a guy and a girl liking each other but not showing it. But the guy gets a lambo and they clicked.

What inspired this track?

Really, nobody and nothing. Its the work of my imagination, it’s fiction.  The inspiration for the track came to me when I was in the bathroom seriously. I woke up and since I don't have a car yet, I started imagining things.  Like a Lamborghini. And the lyrics just came along with it. Me I want Lamborghini o.

What type of music do you call yours?

Afro pop.

How can you rate the music scene in UI?

Ah! Music in U I is great o.  We have talents here like a lot. Guys like Sultan, Biggie, Monaqueen, Dredd, Wale Rapper, .you know now. We have a lot of talented artists.
Is ride in my lambo your first song?

Nope. Last year I released two singles.
“Angel Of My Life” and “Ragga.

Definitely you've been around UI music scene for quite some time.

About a year or so.

Who currently produces your tracks?

His name is Tee Queue. He has been the one producing all my tracks.

Is he also a student?

No He isn't.

Where can students download your music from?

It’s on voiceofui.blogspot.com, connectui.com.ng akomolafeblog.com

Do you do shows and performances?

Of course I do

What's the largest stage you've performed on?

At Spartacus Reloaded”.

What can you say about Nigerian Musicians who mime rather than perform live?

I think the reason they call a performance live is for artistes to sing to the fans live on stage with live bands and all. The best thing to do in live performances is to sing to a live beat created by a live band. Not every show has live bands to perform with and not every artiste can afford a band so I can't criticize. That's my opinion.

If there's anything you can change in the music industry what would that be?

That would be making promotion free for upcoming artistes.

Who's your role model in the music industry?

That's wizzy, Wizkid.

Your celebrity crush?

Lol! I dont have any.

But you have a faculty crush?

Yeah, I do.

Can you tell us about her?

Lol. No that’s why it’s a crush, it’s a secret. Alright.

What do you think about Fatsssa girls?

Ah... awon mamo. They are the bestest.
They are beautiful and intelligent. Any guy would be lucky to be with anyone of them. They make fatsssa go round.

What would you not be caught doing anytime?

Stealing.

In the next five years, where do you see yourself?

In the next 5 years I see myself working with guys like legendury beatz, maleekberry and artistes like wizzy, davido and them A-list artists coz I will also be an A-list artiste then.
