LET’S END THIS BULLSHIT AND LET’S START FROM THE CHAMBER OF HOLINESS!
Editorial
In the school of morality the best teaching method is by example; it is a “do as I do” affair not a “do as I say” affair. One of the major illnesses plaguing the ailing supposed giant of Africa is lack of exemplary leadership and if that’s going to change in the nearest future, we must start seeing the signs in the conduct of our students’ leaders to whom the future of Nigeria belong.
No one person can be right all the time, so, what we consider bullshit may not necessarily be bullshit in reality. There’s high possibility it is just unacceptable nonsense or perhaps a normality, in the city of hypocrisy.
Honestly, we consider the labelling of expended money as miscellaneous a bullshit move, regardless of who’s making it. Money spent at all times should be clearly spelt out and accounted for, not just tagged as “miscellaneous” for convenience sake.
If the Speaker has incurred costs from running the House, it should be well spelt out and what was spent and what it was spent on should be stated clearly. We’re not writing this out of any vendetta against anyone (at least we’re not complaining over the N8000 and N2000 approved for the office of the Speaker for administrative cost and transport/logistics) but rather because we believe the chamber of holiness should be an example to the executives especially when it comes to prudency and financial accountability. Sure, the Speaker must have spent some amount over the course of the past few weeks trying to put some things in place we don't dispute that neither do we discredit it. We only want proper recording of financial matters. Expenses that have happened should never be tagged as miscellaneous. It's not done. What was spent and what it was spent on should be clearly written out. It's very easy.
Even the audit committee would require these things are well spelt out. So take this as our way of even saving you from unwarranted embarrassment in the future.
That being said, in the Spirit of being a good example to the executives, we request that this ~
OTHER QUESTIONS
While we wish Mr President speedy recovery (as we learnt he’s currently under the weather), we would love to get feedback on the proposed skill acquisition programme which was meant to have started by now. We’re almost getting weary of hearing the cliché, “we’re still working on it”. What is the progress report? How many people have registered? When is the programme kicking off? We need information.
Also, we haven’t seen the new receipt as directed by the Faculty House of Representatives. Are we still getting the new receipts or we’ll continue with the A4 bio-data paper form? Please we need to know.
Mr Speaker, for whatever reason, you promised to resuscitate the Faculty Judicial Council (FJC) upon ascension to office as the Speaker. We remember it was the highlight of your manifesto when you were contesting for the Speakership position. Please when is the FJC getting inaugurated? The last time we asked, no tangible answer was given. Should we count it among the stack of promises that would never be fufilled, like the many unfulfilled promises of the Adeyemo tenure? Please educate us.
GENTLE REMINDER
To all Fatsssaites, we’re nearing the conclusion of the current semester and by extension the examinations. Some of us have had tests already. You’re advised to pick up your books as there’s no iota of truth in the rumour that the semester would begin all over again. Be guided.
