It has not escaped my notice that there is an increase in the rush for fad diets. Slim/thin is the new vogue. Every lady (‘guys sef’) want to fit inside size 6. Na wa o. Anyways, while not encouraging you to starve yourselves, and just to help avoid overweight, I have decided to bring some of these ‘wonder foods’ closer to you. So if the stress of UI has not done enough to keep you slim and fit, then you can try any or all of these (Not that being robust and plump is bad anyway). Remember, moderation is best for everything we do.
HOT CHILI PEPPERS
They have a flavourless chemical called capsaicin, which curbs appetite and speed up metabolism slightly, but only for a short while. Because it is spicy, you are less likely to eat more food, which is the point with eating hot peppers. Yoruba chics will dig this (*winks*)
GREEN TEA
Several studies suggest that green tea may promote weight loss by stimulating the body to burn fat. Green tea contains catechins that may briefly affect metabolism. For it to be effectual, green tea must be taken several times a day. This is strictly meant for the butty ‘shidren’.
GRAPEFRUIT
While it has no fat burning properties, the grapefruit can fill one up with fewer calories as its fibres take longer to digest. Having half a grapefruit or a glass of grapefruit juice before a meal fills you up so you eat fewer calories during meals. It can even help you save on food. The grape fruit also helps in maintaining a healthy heart. Apart from being highly fibrous, it is high in potassium, lycopene, vitamin C and choline.
WATERMELON
Foods that are rich in water take up more space in the stomach. This signals to the body that you are full and have less room for more food. Many raw foods and vegetables have high water content and are low in calories. High fluid content of the watermelon makes it a low-energy-dense food. Foods low in energy density are perfect for helping for helping you lose belly fat, because they provide fewer amounts of calories in a larger volume of food, which helps you feel more satisfied, so you eat less. All you pot-bellied ‘shidren’ better start eating watermelon now like your life depends on it.
DISCLAIMER: Don’t expect a miracle o. You’re not going to automatically transform from being a “big bold and beautiful” to being “slim fit and pretty” after just two weeks of consuming these fruits o (So you won’t say we lied to you, eyin eniyan) You’ve got to combine our fruit advice with some good old fashioned work-outs to burn those flabby fats off your potentially slim, fit, pretty body.
