WONDER LEMON

There are a lot of things we experience in our bodies that actually require less effort than we put into them. Nature has furnished us with all that we need to live healthy lives. God has made it easy for us to access nature. We have a lot of natural remedies available to us, which are even easier on the body than synthetic drugs that are more chemical and sometimes detrimental to our bodies. Having said this, I do not dispute that we have need for prescribed drugs; I only mean to make us aware that life can be a lot easier than chemical compositions.

One of the most efficient nature drugs is lemon according to the American Urological Association. Lemon is native to Asia and contains Vitamin C, B6, A, E foliate, niacin, thiamin, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, copper, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, protein, phosphorus and zinc.  Lemon has been put to different uses including culinary (it has been used as lemonade, marianades for fish, meat tenderizers, preservatives and garnishes), industrial as cleaning agents, deodorizer and even insecticides. It is also used in aromatherapy to enhance moods. In medicine it is used as an antibacterial agent.

With its many nutrients, lemon is said to cure throat infections, indigestion, constipation, dental pains, fevers, internal bleeding, rheumatic, burns, obesity, respiratory disorders, cholera and high blood pressure. It is also said to help in dealing with hair and skin care problems, strengthens the immune system, cleanses the stomach, dissolves kidney stones, and reduces strokes and even lowering body temperatures.

This wonderful drug has been used in the treatment of scurvy as it increases Vitamin C in the body and has also been used as remedy for common colds and flu. It contains antioxidants such as bioflavonoid. It also contains eriodictyol glycoside that improves hearing, decreases dizziness in people with Meniere’s disease.

Lemon juice contains citrate and so by increasing the citrate in the body, it prevents the formation of kidney stones. For fevers, drinking lemon juice will increase body perspiration which will lead to indicates that a fever has broken. With increased perspiration, the body is able to cool down thereby reducing high body temperature. Fresh lemon applied to area of toothache will reduce the pain and massaging into bleeding gum will stop bleed. Also it helps get rid of mouth odor.

For hair, when lemon is applied to scalp, it has been found to get rid of dandruff, reduces hair loss and increases natural hair shine. It is a natural remedy to receding hair lines. Lemon can be used on skin too. If applied on sunburns and other burns and fades scars. It can reduce the burn sensation, eases pain from bee stings. It can also be used on acne as it kills bacteria that cause acne with its alkaline content. It can also be used for eczema, removes wrinkles and blackheads.

Lemon juice can also be used against throat infections due to its antibacterial properties. It contains potassium so it helps to treat high blood pressure, dizziness, and nausea by producing a calming sensation to both mind and body. Its calming property also helps reduce mental stress and depression.

Lemon juice can be used during pregnancy and breast feeding. No tangible adverse effect has been found when taken at a moderate amount. It however reacts with milk so should not be taken together.

These are but a few of the proven uses that lemon has. From this, we know that we can easily prevent and cure some common health problems we may be prone to. If all these can be gotten from just a lemon, what can we not gain from the use of other wonderful natural remedies like fruits and vegetables? Eat healthy and help yourself!!!
