VOX-POP: AWARENES ON STUDENTS UNION WEEK
We are all aware (or not) that last
week was the Students’ Union week. The week commenced with a rally, there was
Asun night etc. During the course of the week, our team of pressmen interviewed
some Fatsssaites. They were asked if they knew about the students’ union week,
they were told to rate the week and also to advise future executives how to
improve the Students’ Union. Here are their lovely responses. Enjoy!!!

No, I’m not aware of the week. I’m
surprised that there is even an SU week going on. I think there was no proper publicity to usher
the commencement of the week and there was no jingle like we use to get during
election. There was nothing to notify people of the commencement of the SU week.

Yes, I’m aware
that the SU week is going on but I don’t really know much about it because I’m
not participating in any of the activities. Actually, I went for the Asun night
and it was okay. Students didn’t turn up for the rally but I heard it was very
nice. I’ll rate the SU week 6 out of 10. My advice for them is that they should
try to carry students along next time because most students are not even aware
that the week is going on.

I’m aware of the Students’ union week.
In actual fact, I should have been involved in the carnival but I had classes
so I couldn’t go. To be honest, this year’s SU week is not good. I’ll rate it 3
out of 10. I don’t know whether they didn’t make enough arrangement before they
actually started the week because I heard the Ivory King and Queen has been
moved to the 22nd of April. It’s even out of the week. My
recommendation for them is that they should publicize more because most people
don’t know what is happening.
David Babatune Sule,
Economics, 300l
Yes. I’m aware of the student’s union
week but this year’s week is not good to me. I can’t even participate in some
activities because they promised to cancel all classes which they didn’t. Most
people are not even aware that the SU week is on-going. I’ll rate the week so
far 6 out of 10. My advice for the next executives is that they should do
better in publicizing the SU week as best as they can and when they promise to
stop classes, they shouldn’t default in fulfilling their promise.

Yes, I’m aware of the SU week but the
awareness is very poor. I know that Students; Union week has always being dope
in the past but this current one is nothing to write home about. It’s not too
okay. The publicity of this week is very poor because most people don’t know
that the Student’s Union week is going on presently. It’s not alright at all
coupled with the fact that classes are holding. I’ll rate the Students’ Union
week 3.5. The fact is that lecturers are supposed to be on hold when Students’
Union week is on-going. I’ll advise the next set of executives to make sure
they pull students along.

No, I’m not aware of the
Students’ Union week. There was no adequate publicity for the SU week as most
students don’t even know that something like that is going on in the school.
The publicity can be improved by going to all halls of residence and probably
faculties too as some people are staying off-campus. When they were campaigning
they were sending text messages to students, so why didn’t they do that to
inform students of the Students’ Union week?Interview by: Funmilayo Agbajelola
