VOX POP: STUDENTS' WELFARE ON CAMPUS
“I
don’t think they care about student welfare oh! Because if it were to be their
children facing the various hardships we are facing, I doubt that they would
like it…”
The quote above were the words of a
Fatssssaite when asked by our Vox-Pop team if she thought Student Welfare was
still on the priority of the management. Read on to see more reactions by other
Fatsssaites.

I think that they
kind of care because most of the students are actually applying Marxist theory
in the way they view things happening around without actually knowing what the
school management is doing to care for them.
My view is we don’t really know what is wrong but we should try and see the management’s view.

To the best of my
knowledge, I would say the student health is not in the heart of the management
as the lack of electricity and water is nothing to write home about. So to me,
the management hasn’t done enough.

I stayed off-campus
for two sessions. I expected that coming back to school, I would not have to
struggle for such things as water and light. I was thinking that coming back on
campus, the issue of water would be better, unlike in Agbowo where we had no
choice but to buy water at #30 per keg. I was actually disappointed as we paid
for everything, we paid #14k for everything and I don’t see why I should be
stressing myself or suffering and Awo to be precise is even worse.

sure no member of the school management would wish for the kind of situation in
their own homes.

Lack of water and
light in an institution like ours is not something that should be taken with
levity coz these two resources are the most important in a student’s life. If
an academic environment would be seen as conducive, these resources should be
provided regularly. I
feel the school management is taking this issue with a slack hand which is not
meant to be. I don’t think they care about us coz if they do, they would have
provided a lasting solution.

The issue is even
worse in Awo Hall. Its really something that is not fair considering that we
paid the same amount of money as other people in other halls. We at Awo suffer
in all areas. I expected more.
